Minor had been slated to start Friday, but now Luis Cessa will move up a day to take the ball. The veteran left-hander has a history of shoulder issues and wound up posting a 6.06 ERA across 19 starts this season. He’ll be a free agent after the Reds decline his option and will turn 35 this winter, so the future is looking pretty murky.

Smith was scratched from Saturday’s lineup due to stiffness in his neck. The expectation was that he was going to return to action on Sunday, but manager Dave Roberts wanted to give him an extra day to make sure that he gets right. Dalton Rushing will start behind the plate once again on Sunday afternoon.

Christian Yelich is not in the Brewers’ starting lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Rockies at Coors Field.

Kyle Freeland doesn’t really qualify as a tough left-hander that fantasy managers would want Yelich to sit against, but he’ll get a breather in this one as the Brewers continue to manage his workload in an effort to keep him healthy for the remainder of the season. William Contreras will serve as the team’s designated hitter in this one with Gary Sanchez working behind the plate and batting fifth for the Brewers.

Seager just returned from the injured list on Friday night, and with a southpaw toeing the slab for the Guardians on Sunday it felt like a good time to give him a breather and ease him back into full-time action. Ezequiel Duran will start in his place at shortstop and bat fifth for the Rangers against Joey Cantillo and the Guardians.

He’ll get Sunday off as a precautionary measure as well. Tyler Tolbert will start in his place in right field and will bat ninth against Twins’ left-hander Connor Prielipp.

Rockies optioned RHP TJ Shook to Triple-A Albuquerque.

The 28-year-old hurler made three appearances during his brief stay with the Rockies, posting a 4.91 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and a 3/0 K/BB ratio while serving up a pair of homers in 3 2/3 innings of work. He was unlikely to be available on Sunday after throwing 33 pitches over 1 2/3 innings on Saturday though, so the Rockies decided to swap him out for a fresh arm. He should get another chance with the big league club before the summer is through.

Peralta will get another opportunity to work out of the Rockies’ bullpen with TJ Shook getting optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Sunday. The 28-year-old southpaw has allowed two runs on two hits and two walks over 2/3 of an inning in one appearance with the big league club this season.

Diamondbacks optioned LHP Philip Abner to Triple-A Reno.

Abner joined the Diamondbacks’ bullpen on Thursday when Taylor Clarke went on the bereavement list and now will head right back to Triple-A with Clarke returning. The 24-year-old southpaw has surrendered seven runs on six hits in 3 2/3 innings with the Diamondbacks this season, good for a cringe-inducing 17.18 ERA and 2.18 WHIP.

Diamondbacks activated RHP Taylor Clarke from the bereavement list.

The 33-year-old hurler rejoins the Diamondbacks’ bullpen after being away for a few days. He has been outstanding over 28 appearances this season, posting a brilliant 1.73 ERA, 0.73 WHIP and a 13/4 K/BB ratio over 26 innings of work. Phillip Abner was optioned to Triple-A Reno in a corresponding move on Sunday.
