Blaze Jordan (finger) returned to action for Double-A Portland.

Jordan is the Red Sox’s 19th-ranked prospect according to MLB Pipeline and was the seventh overall first base prospect heading into the 2024 season. He was placed on the IL on May 12 after he fractured his left ring finger. The 21-year-old will return to a slash line of .283/.342/.414 with two home runs and 16 RBI over 111 plate appearances. He could push for a promotion to Triple-A before the end of the season and has a realistic shot to see some at-bats in Boston in 2025.

Orioles RHP Zach Eflin (back) is a “full go” for Spring Training.

He is “having a normal camp” per MASN’s Roch Kubatko. Eflin isn’t going to be high on draft boards, but he’s in a good enough situation in Baltimore to be a worthwhile AL-only league flier or a streamer in 12-team leagues if he makes it through Spring Training healthy.

Colin Selby

BAL Pitcher #60

Orioles placed RHP Colin Selby on the 15-day disabled list with shoulder inflammation.

Not good. Selby pitched in 11 games for the Orioles in 2025 out of the pen and carried a 3.21 ERA and 1.28 WHIP in a low-leverage role. He wasn’t on the fantasy radar, but his absence may clear the way for some different members of Baltimore’s bullpen depth to make a roster push.

Jordan Westburg

BAL Infield #11

Orioles GM Mike Elias said Jordan Westburg (oblique) will be a “few games late into spring play.”

He’s turned a corner, per Elias, but this oblique injury popped up three weeks ago. It’s not expected to impact his status for Opening Day at this time. This shouldn’t impact Westburg’s fantasy stock too much from where we sit today, but as we learned with Gunnar Henderson last Spring Training, sometimes the lingering injuries do indeed linger.

Jackson Holliday

Orioles placed IF Jackson Holliday on the 15-day injured list with a broken hamate bone.

He’ll undergo surgery tomorrow. Orioles GM Mike Elias said his timeline will be measured in “weeks” after Opening Day, so it sounds like fantasy managers can expect him to miss most if not all of April. The Orioles could move Jordan Westburg to second base early in the season to play Coby Mayo at third, or perhaps they’ll simply give Jeremiah Jackson more run at second base.

Josh Hader

Astros manager Joe Espada said Josh Hader will resume his throwing program today.

Imaging revealed inflammation of Hader’s biceps tendon and Espada said he has not thrown the last “10 or 11" days. While this timeline gives him plenty of time to ramp up for the season, we don’t love to hear about inflammation on an MRI in February. We’ll be monitoring Hader’s status closely but this is probably something worth breaking a tie in your draft against Hader for if your league is drafting in the near future.

Justin Crawford

PHI Center Fielder #91

The Athletic’s Charlotte Varnes believes Justin Crawford will be Philadelphia’s regular center fielder as “long as he performs in camp.”

Varnes quotes manager Rob Thomson as saying “I’m not sure what more a guy can do in the minor leagues.” Crawford’s blazing speed, surprisingly sub-par defensive history, and lack of power leave him feeling a lot like Chandler Simpson as a fantasy bet, but he seems to have more trust from the management than Simpson does. He’s got a chance to be a two-category contributor right away, though we doubt he’ll bat high enough to be a fantasy force in this lineup.

Tarik Skubal

DET Pitcher #29

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said Tarik Skubal will be Detroit’s Opening Day starter.

Well, yeah. Not a lot of debate to be had here. The Tigers open up against the Padres on Thursday, March 26. Skubal will be a must-start, as always, unless something incredibly concerning happens during spring training.

Jordan Montgomery

FA Starting Pitcher #52
Dallas Morning News’ Evan Grant reports the Rangers signed LHP Jordan Montgomery to a one-year, $1.25 million contract.

Montgomery did not throw a pitch in the majors last year after undergoing Tommy John surgery before the start of last season. He’ll likely have a chance to make some starts later in the season for Texas if his recovery goes well. Montgomery put up a bloated 6.23 ERA in 21 starts in 2024 and is not someone who needs to be on the fantasy radar at this point, though his recovery is worth following.

Brett Wisely

ATL Infield #0
Braves acquired INF Brett Wisely from the Rays for cash considerations.

The Braves claimed Wisely off waivers from the Giants last September, DFA’d him and traded him to the Rays last month and now are getting him back with the 60-day IL giving them some extra 40-man roster maneuverability. The 26-year-old Wisely is a career .214/.265/.319 hitter in 466 major league plate appearances, most of which came with the Giants in 2023 and ’24. He’ll have a decent chance of claiming the last spot on the Braves’ bench.
