The trade is now official, and it’s a hefty return for a rental reliever. The Mets are acquiring a proven high-leverage weapon in Rogers, who has been exceptional this season with a sparkling 1.80 ERA and 38/4 K/BB ratio over 50 innings (53 appearances). The 34-year-old side-winder has made a staggering 392 appearances since 2019 and brings exactly the type of postseason-tested experience a contender needs to bolster its bullpen for a deep October run.

Kim has been out of action since the start of July due to inflammation in his right middle finger. The Braves will need to make room on the active roster for Kim, but considering how terrible he’s been at the plate this year, it’s also feasible he’s a candidate to be designated for assignment or traded.

Smith has been one of the breakout prospects of 2026, as the former sixth-round pick has hit 22 homers while forging a 1.037 OPS while reaching Double-A. There are defensive questions with Smith — and it’s worth noting that he’s a player that turns 24 in November — but there’s enough offensive upside to suggest he could be a regular in a year or two. He’s worth monitoring in dynasty/keeper formats, at least.

Baz gave up six hits, walked one and struck out four. He fell to 4-10 with the loss. The only run Baz gave up came on a two-out single to Bryan De La Cruz in the fifth inning. Still, with no run support, the 27-year-old right-hander took the loss. Baz has a 3.86 ERA. He’s lined up to face the Rangers on the road next Friday.

Jones has yet to play in the majors this year, and has an .807 OPS with 11 steals and 14 homers in his time with Triple-A Charlotte. The 28-year-old once showed immense promise and put together one fantastic season while a member of the Rockies, but he’s just organizational depth at this stage. It’s hard to see a regular role even if Seattle continues to churn players before the deadline.

Dominguez has forged a 3.99 ERA with 12 saves in his time with the White Sox, but five blown saves has seen him lose his stopper role, and now he’s headed to a different org entirely. The hard-throwing reliever will be a bridge for the Seattle pen, and isn’t likely to see many save chances.

Castillo is having the worst season of his professional career with a 5.06 ERA and 3-9 record over 20 appearances — 17 starts — and 99 1/3 innings. The 33-year-old right-hander has been much more effective in the past, however, and has pitched better after a dreadful start to his 2026 campaign. Still, this is not the Castillo of old, and he’s much closer to a streamer than someone fantasy managers need to have in their lineup. It’s fair to take a wait-and-see approach before believing in a rebound.

Sánchez gave up two hits, walked five and struck out 11. He improved to 14-4 with the win. Sánchez had his first scoreless outing since the end of June, a span of four starts. He lowered his ERA to 2.61. Sánchez is lined up to face the Nationals at home next Thursday.

Hoerner tied the game at 2-2 in the seventh before the Cubs added on two more then and one in the eighth. Hoerner has two homers in six games after going 80 straight games without one from Apr. 22 until June 27. He’s hitting .410/.419/.541 with 13 RBI in 15 games since the break.

Peterson came in with a 14/10 K/BB in 26 2/3 innings for the Cubs, but he was at 8/0 tonight. It was his second eight-strikeout game of the year, with the also other coming against the Yankees when he was still with the Mets on May 16. Peterson will face the Royals next weekend, so he has some utility as a streaming option.

Thielbar got the ninth after Jacob Webb, the Cubs’ current favorite for saves, pitched a scoreless eighth. Thielbar’s previous two saves both came in a four-day span in April. He’ll stay in the late-game mix for now, but the Cubs would surely like to add a quality reliever prior to the deadline. They also might get Daniel Palencia back in 2-3 weeks.
