Lauer will slot into the Dodgers’ six-man rotation after being acquired from the Blue Jays in a trade over the weekend. The 30-year-old lefty struggled to a bloated 6.69 ERA across 36 1/3 innings for Toronto earlier this season. He’s unlikely to carry any semblance of fantasy value unless Los Angeles’ pitching apparatus is able to unlock something to get him back on track. It’s a noteworthy development since he’ll take over Blake Snell’s rotation spot with prospect River Ryan likely staying in the minors.

It’s the second time in four days that Springer has been held out of action, so it’s possible that he’s battling some sort of minor injury. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will function as the team’s designated hitter while Sean Keys starts at first base and will bat sixth against Royals’ right-hander Randy Dobnak on Sunday afternoon in Kansas City.

Nothing has changed in the prognosis for Vierling, who has been battling an adductor strain and left heel inflammation, this was done as a procedural move to free up a spot on the team’s 40-man roster for the return of Brant Hurter on Sunday. This closes the door on the 2026 season for Vierling.

The 27-year-old outfielder had started each of the team’s previous five games — including four straight as the Giants’ cleanup hitter. He has done a nice job in his limited action so far, slashing .308/.400/.404 with zero homers, 12 RBI and a stolen base in 65 plate appearances. Grant McCray will start in his place in left field and bat seventh against Mets’ right-hander Christian Scott on Sunday.

Hurter had been sidelined since mid-May due to lumbar spine inflammation. Before landing on the injured list, the 28-year-old southpaw had posted a strong 2.84 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and an 18/12 K/BB ratio over 25 1/3 innings. He should provide a nice boost to an overworked and struggling Tigers’ bullpen.

Sears did a nice job in his first MLB start against the Guardians on Friday, allowing just one run on four hits over 5 2/3 innings of work. With Brant Hurter returning from the injured list on Sunday though, he gets squeezed off of the club’s active roster. It’s possible that we’ll see him return before the season comes to a close.

Caglianone made an early exit from Saturday’s game due to soreness in his left elbow and he’ll sit once again on Sunday as a precautionary measure. As of now, there are no indications that he’ll require an extended absence from the lineup so he’s considered day-to-day. John Rave will start in his place in right field and bat leadoff for the Royals on Sunday afternoon.

It looks to be nothing more than a regular day of rest for the 23-year-old outfielder. Waldschmidt has done a decent job overall in his time with the D’Backs this season, slashing .266/.331/.378 with three homers, 22 RBI and seven stolen bases across 263 plate appearances. Jordan Lawlar will start in his place in center field and bat ninth for the Diamondbacks on Sunday.

It looks to be nothing more than a routine day off for the superstar third baseman after playing in both halves of Friday’s doubleheader and Saturday’s contest as well. Look for him to make an appearance off the bench in a key late-game situation if needed. Angel Genao will cover third base in his absence and bat sixth against Tigers’ right-hander Jackson Jobe on Sunday afternoon in Cleveland.

The 24-year-old outfielder was pulled from the second game of Friday’s doubleheader due to a sprained right wrist and has now missed the next two games. The Guardians remain optimistic that he won’t require a trip to the injured list. Petey Halpin will start in his place in center field and will bat eighth for the Guardians against Tigers’ right-hander Jackson Jobe.

Torres has shouldered a heavy workload for the Tigers and played in both halves of Friday’s doubleheader in addition to Saturday’s contest, so he’ll get a breather in this one. Spencer Torkelson will do the same. Hao-Yu Lee will start at second base and will bat second against Guardians’ right-hander Gavin Williams.
