Elly De La Cruz (hamstring) is expected to begin a minor league rehab assignment on Friday with Triple-A Louisville.

Reds manager Terry Francona told reporters that De La Cruz could potentially return to Cincinnati’s lineup for next Tuesday’s contest against the division-rival Brewers. The 24-year-old fantasy superstar has been on the shelf with a hamstring strain since late May. All signs point to him returning early next week after getting a couple rehab contests under his belt.

NYY Designated Hitter #27

Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters Giancarlo Stanton reinjured his calf and will be shut down from baseball activities.

Stanton was shut down over the weekend to undergo imaging which revealed a pretty significant setback. The 36-year-old will be shut down from any activity for at least the next week before he’s cleared to get back on the field. He’s unlikely to make it back to New York for at least a couple weeks, barring any additional setbacks, which isn’t out of the question given his injury history.

Max Fried (elbow) completed a bullpen session on Tuesday.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters the session went well, which is encouraging. The 32-year-old fantasy ace has been on the shelf with a bone bruise in his left elbow since mid-May. It’ll take a few weeks to ramp-up his throwing progression before he’s ready to return to New York’s rotation. It seems safe to assume that he won’t be back until around next month’s All-Star break since he’ll need at least a couple minor league rehab starts to knock off the rust.
Roman Anthony

BOS Left Fielder #19

Roman Anthony (finger) underwent a followup MRI on Tuesday that didn’t reveal any structural damage.

Anthony has been out since early May after being diagnosed with a torn ligament in his ring finger on his throwing hand. It’s an uncommon injury, according to an orthopedist The Boston Globe’s Alex Speier spoke to earlier this week, which typically requires an 8-12 week recovery timeline. The 22-year-old is approaching the eight-week mark since suffering the injury. He hasn’t been cleared to swing a bat and remains without a definitive return timetable. At this juncture it seems highly unlikely he’ll return before next month’s All-Star break since he’ll need several weeks to ramp up baseball activities.

Jasson Domínguez (tooth) is out of the lineup for Tuesday’s series opener against the White Sox.

Domínguez told reporters he’s available off the bench after having a tooth pulled earlier in the day prior to Tuesday’s contest against the White Sox. It’ll be Spencer Jones patrolling center field with Cody Bellinger and José Caballero in the corners. The 23-year-old former top prospect has gone 2-for-8 with a solo homer in a pair of games since returning from the injured list over the weekend. He’s worthy of a speculative pickup in deeper mixed leagues based on his talent and opportunity to play everyday in right field with Aaron Judge (rib) on the injured list for the next couple weeks.

HOU Starting Pitcher #58

Astros activated RHP Hunter Brown from the 60-day injured list.

Brown returns to Houston’s rotation to face former teammate and current Tigers southpaw Framber Valdez on Tuesday night at Daikin Park. The 27-year-old fantasy ace wound up missing 10 weeks recovering from a shoulder strain that he suffered back in early April. It’s a strong home matchup right out of the gate, even if Detroit has been scoring plenty of runs recently. He shouldn’t have any restrictions from a workload standpoint after throwing 74 pitches during his final minor league rehab start for Triple-A Sugar Land last week.
Collin Price

Astros optioned C Collin Price to Triple-A Sugar Land.

Price heads back to the minors to clear a roster spot for Astros ace Hunter Brown to return from the injured list. The 26-year-old backstop went 2-for-12 at the plate across seven games in his first stint at the highest level.

Astros designated RHP Jayden Murray for assignment.

Murray winds up losing his spot on Houston’s 40-man roster after allowing 11 runs on 19 hits over 13 1/3 innings this season. The 29-year-old figures to pass through waivers unclaimed and could stick around as organizational depth.
Brandon Woodruff

MIL Starting Pitcher #53

Brandon Woodruff (shoulder) will make a rehab start Tuesday for High-A Wisconsin.

Woodruff will make another rehab start in the minors as he works his way back from the shoulder issue that has sidelined him for the overwhelming majority of 2026. The right-hander may need to make one more appearance below the MLB level after, but he’s closing in no rejoining the Brew Crew rotation before the end of June.
Luis Rengifo

MIL 3rd Baseman #13

Brewers designated INF Luis Rengifo for assignment.

Rengifo was atrocious in his limited time with the Brew Crew; forging a 205/.280/.254 slash line in 209 plate appearances before being designated for assignment. He could report to Triple-A if/when he goes unclaimed or untraded, but there’s just as good of chance he’ll become a free agent and look to rebound with a new organization.
