Carlos Franco will not compete in the inaugural edition of the Barbasol Championship.
It would have been Franco’s first PGA TOUR start since turning 50 in May. He’s hung up a pair of T64s on the Champions Tour since, but hasn’t tested his game in the big leagues since missing the cut in Puerto Rico in March. The four-time winner hasn’t cashed in a TOUR event since a T42 in the 2010 Sanderson Farms Championship. Famous for his aversion to practice, he may have been golf’s Most Interesting Man in the World if the Internet would have caught up with him when he was in his prime 10-15 years ago. NOTE: Olin Browne, Nolan Henke, Frank Lickliter II, Tom Byrum, Jim Carter, Andre Stolz, Craig Barlow, Brad Fritsch, Wes Roach, James Driscoll, Steve Marino, Kevin Tway and D.H. Lee passed on spots as alternates.
