In Group 1 play on Wednesday at the WGC-Dell Match Play, 23-seed Patrick Reed lost 1 DOWN to PGA TOUR rookie and WGC first-timer Cameron Young.
Reed, making his eighth MP appearance, was 2 UP thru nine holes but could not hold the lead. 40-seed Young, the only rookie (of 27) who qualified, won holes 10 and 12 with birdies to tie, and then went 1 UP with a par-win at 14, a lead he would never relinquish. Reed had two golden opportunities at 17 and 18 to, at the very least, garner half-a-point, but missed birdies from 8'2" and 7'7", respectively, and sees his record at Austin CC drop to 8-7-3. Young, 24 years of age and the World No. 45, eyes a R2 matchup on Thursday with top-seed Jon Rahm, a 4&2 winner today, while Reed will look to rebound against 58-seed Munoz, who has yet to win any points in a now second appearance.
