Forwards:
Johnny Gaudreau (CGY) - W - $7,800 (FanDuel), $7,500 (DraftKings)
Gaudreau has been hot out of the gate with two goals and three assists through two games. He only had two goals in four outings versus Los Angeles last year, but he has collected 22 points in 21 career matches against the Kings. Los Angeles surrendered six goals in a 6-5 loss to Edmonton on Saturday in the team’s season opener.
Aleksander Barkov (FLA) - C - $7,400 (FanDuel), $5,300 (DraftKings)
It’s been a sluggish start for Barkov, who has one assist in two games, but the upside for a big performance is there for the talented center and his price on DraftKings is too good to pass up. He had a goal and an assist in three meetings against Carolina last year.
Jake Guentzel (PIT) - W - $7,300 (FanDuel), $6,200 (DraftKings)
With Evgeni Malkin, Bryan Rust and Nick Bjugstad out with long-term injuries, Sidney Crosby’s line is sure to see an increase in responsibility and it’s time for Guentzel to get going. He has been held to one assist and five shots through two games this campaign, but will face a Winnipeg team that has struggled defensively this year. Guentzel has one goal and three helpers in six career appearances versus the Jets.
Matt Duchene (NSH) - C - $7,000 (FanDuel), $6,200 (DraftKings)
Duchene is proving to be a strong addition to Nashville early on in the 2019-20 season. He has accounted for five assists and four shots in his first two matches as a member of the Predators. Duchene notched one goal and one assist in two outings versus San Jose last season. The Sharks have permitted 4.00 goals against per game in the club’s opening three contests.
Nikolaj Ehlers (WPG) - W - $5,000 (FanDuel), $6,000 (DraftKings)
Ehlers has generated four assists and 14 shots in Winnipeg’s first three games of the year. He has been playing on the top line with Blake Wheeler and Mark Scheifele. This has the potential to be a high-scoring affair and that should benefit Ehlers, who checks in with a great price on FanDuel.
Bargain Bin: Reilly Smith (VGK) - W - $5,800 (FanDuel)/$5,100 (DraftKings), Roope Hintz (DAL) - C - $5,400 (FanDuel)/$5,000 (DraftKings), Jakub Vrana (WSH) - W - $4,700 (FanDuel)/$4,500 (DraftKings), Jared McCann (PIT) - C - $4,300 (FanDuel)/$3,700 (DraftKings), Zack Kassian (EDM) - W - $4,300 (FanDuel)/$4,200 (DraftKings),
Defensemen:
Dougie Hamilton (CAR) - D - $5,200 (FanDuel), $6,700 (DraftKings)
Hamilton has one goal and three helpers in three games this year for a strong start. He has a great price on FanDuel, but he’s the second-most expensive defender on the slate for DraftKings.
Mattias Ekholm (NSH) - D - $4,400 (FanDuel), $4,500 (DraftKings)
Ekholm has reached the scoresheet in two straight games to start the 2019-20 season, while producing one goal and two assists. He has also provided five shots and three blocks so far this year.
Bargain Bin: Keith Yandle (FLA) - $5,400 (FanDuel)/$3,500 (DraftKings), Miro Heiskanen (DAL) - $4,300 (FanDuel)/$5,400 (DraftKings)
Goaltenders:
Semyon Varlamov (NYI) - G - $7,700 (FanDuel), $7,500 (DraftKings)
Varlamov played well in a 2-1 loss to Washington to open the season in his Islanders debut. Thomas Greiss turned aside 35 of 36 shots in a 4-1 win over Winnipeg on Sunday in the team’s last game. Whoever gets the nod against Edmonton should be a very good option for price and upside behind a stingy New York defensive front.
Bargain Bin: David Rittich (CGY) - $7,700 (FanDuel), Tuukka Rask (BOS) - $7,600 (DraftKings)
