Colts placed OT George Foster on injured reserve, ending his season.
The 2003 first-round pick of the Broncos was signed in May. Foster hasn’t appeared in a game since 2008, and missing all of 2012 should just about put a bow on his career.

Colts signed OT George Foster and waived FB Ryan Mahaffey.
A first-round pick of the Broncos in 2003, Foster hasn’t appeared in a game since 2008, though he did spend last preseason with the Saints. A certified bust, Foster is unlikely to go from camp body to roster surprise for Indy.

George Foster has been benched in favor of Jonathan Scott, who will start at right tackle Sunday.
Scott replaced Foster in the third quarter of Week 4 after Foster committed his sixth false-start penalty of the season and gave up a sack.

Initially said to be benched in favor of Jonathan Scott, offensive coordinator Mike Martz said Thursday that George Foster will start in Week 5.
According to the Detroit News, Foster “is on notice,” which is perhaps similar to double-secret probation.

George Foster was benched late in Sunday’s game for the second straight week.
“They just said they were going to give Jonathan [Scott] some reps,’' Foster said. “I just asked and that’s what they told me. I asked if I did anything wrong and they said ‘No.’”

George Foster was benched in the second quarter Sunday after committing his seventh false-start penalty of the season.
He was replaced by Jonathan Scott. “It was just a decision made by the coach,” Foster said. “Put Jonathan in. He did a great job.”
  • Ed Mulitalo will be the Lions’ starting left guard this season.
The Lions’ offensive line will be a lot better if George Foster can capture his potential at right tackle. The team does have above average depth on paper. Mulitalo, a longtime Raven, should be a solid interior presence at worst.

Lions RT George Foster leads the NFL in false start penalties with nine this season. He has yielded 9.5 sacks, second most of any tackle in the league.
Foster has also been benched countless times this year, and was again Sunday even though his primary backup, Jonathan Scott (thumb) was out. Look for a big game from Packers LE Aaron Kampman this upcoming week.
  • Lions T Jonathan Scott left Thursday’s game with a hamstring injury.
He was helped to the tunnel by team trainers, but was seen on a bike on the sideline moments later. The Packers moved G/C Blaine Saipaia to tackle instead of George Foster.
