    The Times-Picayune calls undrafted rookie DE Glenn Foster the surprise of Saints camp.
    Through two preseason games, Foster has three sacks, seven tackles, three quarterback hits and two tackles for a loss. The Illinois product has outplayed Tyrunn Walker and Tom Johnson as he battles for a roster spot behind starting ends Cam Jordan and Akiem Hicks. The Saints are desperate for anyone that can generate a pass rush.

    Saints UDFA DE Glenn Foster is considered a “lock” to make the roster after flashes of dominance in the preseason.
    Undrafted out of Illinois, Foster has four sacks in the preseason and a forced fumble, and saw snaps with New Orleans’ first-team defense in the third exhibition game. Foster had a draftable grade coming out of college from Russ Lande, but was viewed as a bit of a tweener at 6-foot-4 and only 285 pounds.

    The reserve defensive end was carted to the locker room and won’t return.

    He was waived with a failed physical designation. Foster isn’t yet over the knee injury that ended his 2014 season. The former UDFA out of Illinois dominated the 2013 preseason as a rookie and played 295 snaps for last year’s Saints.
