Cal’s Brandon Hagy on Monday was named the recipient of the 2014 Byron Nelson Award, given annually to a graduating senior who excels not only on the golf course but also in the classroom and community.

Ranked inside the top 10 in both the World Amateur Rankings and Golfstat’s individual rankings, Hagy has won four times during his career with the Golden Bears. He will represent the United States at this year’s Palmer Cup, and he is a semifinalist for the 2014 Hogan Award.

Hagy has completed his degree from the Haas School of Business, one of the nation’s best, and will graduate this month.

“It’s an incredible honor,” he said in a release. “It is humbling to be associated with Mr. Nelson’s name and this is a memory I will keep for the rest of my life.”
