Daly Back in the Winner Circle

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) -- John Daly won the Korean Open on Sunday, closing with a 4-under-par 68 for a one-stroke victory.

Daly, a two-time major winner, captured his first title since the BMW International Open in Germany in 2001.

He finished at 6-under 282. Thailand’s Thaworn Wiratchant (70) was at 283 and Scotland’s Simon Yates (68) was at 284.

Daly had seven birdies and three bogeys in his final round on the 7,042-yard course. He earned more than $87,000 from the tournament’s $400,000 purse.

LPGA star Laura Davies joined the tournament but missed the cut by four strokes after shooting an 11-over 155. England’s Justin Rose also did not make the cut with rounds of 76 and 77.
