Amateur Moore to Turn Pro after US Open

HARRISON, N.Y. -- Tournament officials said on Monday that reigning U.S. Amateur champion Ryan Moore will turn professional the week after the U.S. Open at the Barclays Classic in Harrison, New York.

‘We are excited that Ryan has chosen the Barclays Classic as the place to start his professional PGA Tour career,’ said Barclays Classic Executive Director Peter Mele. ‘We expect Ryan to be competing on the PGA Tour for years to come and wish him success at this year’s tournament.’

While at UNLV, Moore enjoyed a successful college career as a three-time All- American. He dominated the amateur ranks in 2004, winning the U.S. Amateur, the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship, the Western Amateur and the NCAA Championship.

Moore will tee it up in the U.S. Open this week on the No. 2 Course at Pinehurst Resort. Moore tied for 13th at the Masters this year.

The Barclays Classic will be contested from June 23-26 at Westchester Country Club. Sergio Garcia is the defending champion.
