Humberto Mejia allowed four runs on eight hits over six innings in Saturday’s loss to the Phillies.
Mejia was wobbly at the start, allowing two runs in the first inning on a Bryce Harper sacrifice fly and a Didi Gregorius RBI double. Another two runs would score against him in the third inning, in decidedly louder fashion, as Odubel Herrera and Jean Segura socked solo shots back-to-back against the 24-year-old right-hander to put the Diamondbacks in a 4-0 hole. This was just Mejia’s second major league start of the season (and just the fifth of his career). In his first two outings of the summer, he has surrendered six runs across 11 frames. He will try to keep things in check in a home start against the Mariners next time out.
