    Royals released OF JaCoby Jones.
The 30-year-old outfielder was on a minor league contract at Triple-A Omaha where he was hitting .214/.270/.357 with four homers, 13 RBI and two stolen bases in 38 games. He’s always been an extremely talented player that has oozed potential, so it’s likely he’ll be able to find another squad willing to give him a minor league deal.

  • MLB Starting Pitcher #35
Royals reassigned RHPS Brad Peacock, Arodys Vizcaino, Colten Brewer, Jose Cuas; INFs Gabriel Cancel, Iván Castillo, Clay Dungan and Vinnie Pasquantino; and OFs Dairon Blanco, Brewer Hicken and Jacoby Jones to minor league camp.
The latest batch of cuts from Royals’ camp includes several prominent relievers including Peacock, Vizcaino and Brewer. They’ll open the regular season as extra relief depth at Triple-A Omaha and could be up at some point later this year.

  • MLB Outfield #19
Royals signed OF JaCoby Jones to a minor league contract.
Jones was cut loose by the Tigers in October after struggling to a .170/.210/.250 batting line with 42 strikeouts across his 105 major league plate appearances this year. He’s displayed some potential in the past and makes for a low-risk gamble in Kansas City.

JaCoby Jones has elected free agency.
Jones has refused an outright minor-league assignment and will head to free agency just a few seasons after looking like a potential building block for the Tigers. The 29-year-old outfielder spent most of the year at Triple-A Toledo after hitting .170/.210/.250 with two homers and a pair of steals across 105 plate appearances at the big-league level in the first two months of the year. He’ll be an interesting lottery ticket for another organization this offseason.

  • MLB Outfield #19
Tigers sent OF JaCoby Jones outright to Triple-A Toledo.
Jones was designated for assignment by Detroit on Sunday and passed through waivers unclaimed, probably because he’s making $2.65 million in his second year of arbitration eligibility. The 29-year-old has shown promise at times, but he’d hit just .170/.210/.250 over 105 plate appearances this season in the bigs.

  • MLB Outfield #19
Tigers desingated OF JaCoby Jones for assignment.
The 29-year-old was having a rough season, batting just .170 with a .210 on-base percentage over 100 at-bats before being optioned to Triple-A on May 23. Jones did not fare much better in the minor leagues, batting .205/.255/.364 over 44 at-bats. It’s possible that another major league team in need of depth will take a shot on the outfielder, but it’s highly unlikely he will find his way to fantasy relevancy this season.

  • MLB Outfield #19
Tigers optioned OF JaCoby Jones to Triple-A Toledo.
The 29-year-old has been mired in a season-long slump, hitting a paltry .170/.210/.250 with two homers, nine RBI and a 42/5 K/BB ratio across 105 plate appearances. He’ll look to get back on track while playing everyday at Triple-A. Victor Reyes will be recalled from Triple-A prior to Monday’s game to take his place on the active roster.

JaCoby Jones went 2-for-4 and hit his first homer of the year against the Pirates in Thursday’s loss.
Jones has lost playing time because of Akil Baddoo’s emergence, but there’s more room for him now with both Nomar Mazara and Miguel Cabrera on the IL. If he can get hot for a spell, it’d definitely help his case for at-bats. Right now, he’s at .176/.200/.294 in 35 plate appearances.

  • Right Fielder #15
Nomar Mazara left Wednesday’s game against the Astros early with an undisclosed injury.
Mazara appeared to tweak his back after an awkward swing in the fourth inning, and Tigers manager A.J. Hinch called time and immediately came out to get his outfielder. No specific details are known at this time. JaCoby Jones took over in the outfield for Detroit.

  • MIL Left Fielder #60
Akil Baddoo is on the bench Tuesday against the Twins.
The early-season sensation will take a seat against lefty J.A. Happ. The same goes for Victor Reyes. Niko Goodrum will start in left field and bat leadoff while JaCoby Jones is in center and Robbie Grossman will play right. Miguel Cabrera is at first base and Wilson Ramos will get a game in the DH spot.
