Pazos

He’s taking the roster spot of Mike Kickham. Pazos was pummeled for 10 runs over 5 1/3 innings last season with the Rockies but was a pretty effective middle reliever prior to that.

The 29-year-old southpaw made six appearances for the Rockies in 2020, posting a cringe-inducing 16.88 ERA, 2.81 WHIP and 1/5 K/BB ratio in 5 1/3 innings of work. He’ll provide additional bullpen depth for the Dodgers.

It’s an end-of-season paperwork move for the Rockies, who missed the playoffs with a final record of 26-34. Pazos, 29, gave up 10 earned runs on 10 hits and five walks in just 5 1/3 innings of relief this year.

Mychal Givens, acquired from the Orioles on Sunday, will fill the vacant spot in the Rockies’ bullpen. Pazos has allowed 10 earned runs in 5 1/3 innings this season for a ghastly 16.88 ERA.

The 29-year-old southpaw owns a miserable 17.18 ERA and 2.46 WHIP over 3 2/3 innings with the big league club this season. He’ll function in middle relief.

Pazos has surrendered seven earned runs in just 3 2/3 innings this year out of the Rockies’ bullpen.

Pazos has spent all of this season at the Triple-A level, posting an ugly 8.42 ERA over 46 relief appearances. He’ll give the Rockies another lefty in the bullpen.

Pazos was designated for assignment earlier in the week. He has proven to be a functional bullpen arm the past two seasons and could secure a role in the Rockies’ bullpen in relatively short order.

It’s a bit of a surprise, as Pazos holds a 3.39 ERA with 110 strikeouts over 103 2/3 innings across the last two seasons in the majors. He did struggle in spring training and at the start of this season at Triple-A Lehigh Valley and it would appear the Phils are willing to gamble that he’ll pass through waivers.

Pazos allowed six runs -- five earned -- over 7 1/3 innings this spring in the Grapefruit League. The 27-year-old will serve as left-handed bullpen depth for the Philadelphia organization in 2019.
