Meder

He had been a restricted free agent. The 27-year-old earned high marks from ProFootballFocus as a run-stopper despite seeing only 178 snaps last season. He sat out the Browns’ final six games with a high-ankle sprain.

A 2014 UDFA, Meder was an exclusive rights free agent. Meder started 15 games last season, playing 721 snaps. He aligned primarily at nose tackle, but also saw some time at end. Despite the versatility and 2016 starting job, Meder isn’t a core piece for the rebuilding Browns. He turns 26 next month.

Meder has played only 178 snaps this season, but his loss comes the same week Emmanuel Ogbah went down for the season with a broken foot. The Browns’ defense could begin to spring some run game vulnerabilities. They’ll be facing Joe Mixon and the Bengals this week.

Meder is a run stopper who was playing 20-25 weekly snaps. A 2014 UDFA, he’s headed for restricted free agency. Turning 27 in April, it’s possible he’s not tendered a contract by the rebuilding Browns.
