    Texans waived TE Jerell Adams.
Even in Houston’s increased usage of 12 personnel sans Kenny Stills this past week, Adams has been unable to get on the field over Jordan Akins (10/157/2) and Darren Fells (9/90/3). He finishes his tenure with the Texans with 24 catches over 378 regular season snaps since 2016.

Giants sixth-round TE Jerell Adams “might have a hard time earning a spot on the roster.”
Adams is buried toward the bottom of a tight end battle that includes Will Tye, Larry Donnell, and Matt LaCosse. Donnell, in particular, has been one of the Giants’ bright spots early in camp. Adams is a practice squad candidate.
  • FA Tight End
Giants signed No. 184 overall pick TE Jerell Adams to a four-year, $2.5 million contract.
That comes with a $143,000 signing bonus. He’ll open camp as the Giants’ No. 3 tight end behind Larry Donnell and Will Tye.
  • FA Tight End
Giants selected South Carolina State TE Jerell Adams with the No. 184 overall pick in the 2016 draft.
Adams (6'5/247) made 15 starts for the Gamecocks, tallying 977 yards and seven TDs on 66 catches (14.80 YPR). An above-average athlete, Adams ran 4.64 at the Combine with a 32 1/2-inch vertical and 9-foot-9 broad jump. Adams mainly played slot receiver at South Carolina, only sprinkling into select packages as an in-line tight end. He did make late-career strides as a blocker, shining there at the Senior Bowl. Adams is old for a rookie -- he’ll turn 24 later this year -- but he offers starter-quality length (34-inch arms) and movement skills, and is a weapon down the seam. He has a chance to be a value pick for New York.
