Toledo redshirt freshman WR Jerjuan Newton caught three passes for 68 yards and a touchdown in Saturday’s 24-23 win over CMU.
Overall, Newton’s day was nothing too crazy. He caught a few passes, but did not eclipse even 75 yards. Newton (5'11/186) hauled in the game-winner, though, and that alone is enough of a performance to say Newton crushed it. His 28-yard score with about 1:30 left in the game effectively sealed the deal for Toledo once their defense made a stop on the ensuing CMU drive. Oddly enough, that was just Newton’s second touchdown of the season.
