Cardinals acquired OF Jhon Torres from the Indians in a deal for OF Oscar Mercado.
Torres signed with the Indians in 2017. The 18-year-old outfielder is years away from being an MLB player, but he has performed reasonably well in the Arizona League with a .776 OPS, four homers and three steals over 27 games.
