Saints signed exclusive rights free agent S Jonathon Amaya to a one-year contract.
The Saints’ fourth safety behind Roman Harper, Malcolm Jenkins, and Isa Abdiul-Quddus, Amaya was primarily a special teamer after coming over from Miami in the Reggie Bush trade.

Dolphins S Jonathon Amaya has been arrested and charged with battery following an alleged altercation with a cab driver.
That’s not good news for a special teamer. Amaya has six tackles in eight games this season, but has played just four snaps on defense.

Dolphins signed S Jonathan Amaya and waived S Troy Nolan.
Primarily a special teamer, Amaya was sent to the Saints in the Reggie Bush trade last year. Nolan had played just three defensive snaps this season.

Miami-Dade County prosecutors have dropped battery charges against Dolphins S Jonathon Amaya.
The special teamer was accused of choking a cab driver in Miami Beach on November 26. Amaya finished 2012 with eight tackles in 12 games. He’s headed for restricted free agency.
  • FA Wide Receiver
The Dolphins declined to tender restricted free agents WR Marlon Moore, S Jonathon Amaya, TE Jeron Mastrud, and DB Bryan McCann, and exclusive rights free agent Patrick Brown, making them unrestricted free agents.
The Dolphins want some of the above players back, but weren’t willing to pay the cost of the lowest possible tender. Moore, 25, caught six passes for 116 yards and a touchdown last season. Amaya and McCann play special teams.

Cardinals agreed to terms with S Jonathon Amaya, formerly of the Dolphins, on a one-year contract.
The last we heard of the special teamer, he was getting arrested for choking a cab driver in November. The charges were later dropped. Amaya played just four snaps on defense last season. That’s unlikely to change in the desert.

Dolphins signed S Jonathon Amaya to their 53-man roster.
FB Deon Anderson (triceps) was placed on injured reserve to make room on the roster for the undrafted rookie out of Nevada, who was signed for roster depth in preparation for the Bengals’ sixth-ranked passing attack Week 8.
  • FA Running Back
Dolphins placed FB Deon Anderson (triceps) on season-ending injured reserve.
Rookie S Jonathon Amaya was signed to the 53-man roster to replace Anderson.

Dolphins waived DB Nate Ness, DB Ross Weaver, WR Julius Pruitt, S Jonathan Amaya, OL Andrew Hartline, and FB Rolly Lumbala.
Undrafted out of Arizona in 2009, Ness has seen time at both corner and safety in Dolphins practices. He starred in the first preseason game before fading the past few weeks.

Coach Tony Sparano indicated that FS Chris Clemons will have to hold off Reshad Jones and Jon Amaya to keep his starting job this summer.
Clemons lost snaps to Jones late last season while attempting to play through a groin injury. He’ll enter camp as the favorite to keep the job. Amaya is in the mix as a reward for being a demon on special teams as a rookie.
