Ness

Teams can carry 90 men on the offseason roster and the Rams might be the most talent-poor club in football, so these moves bode poorly for these players’ long-term outlooks. Porter, a former undrafted rookie running back out of Stillman College, saw some time on St. Louis’ active roster last season.

Ness was waived only a week ago. He was held off the stat-sheet in two games earlier this season. Although he could see a few snaps in St. Louis’ injury-ravaged secondary, most of Ness’ playing time should come on special teams.

Originally signed as a safety by the Dolphins, Ness will play cornerback in St. Louis. He’ll add depth after veteran Al Harris was lost for the season.

Signed in mid-November, the former Dolphin and Seahawk was active for two games, making zero tackles. Ness should pass through waivers unclaimed.

Ness has seen action in just eight games with the Rams, Dolphins, and Seahawks over the past three seasons. He’s merely a camp body to provide depth while the Panthers deal with minor injuries.

Neblett, 24, appeared in 11 games last season, starting two but managing just seven tackles and a half sack. Ness spent the season on injured reserve.

Ness has been a safety throughout his career, but has been on an active roster just once in the NFL since going undrafted in 2009. Versatility can’t hurt Ness in his quest to make the team.

LB Corey Greenwood was cut to make room. Ness spent time with the Lions in the spring and will be another body at a weak cornerback position in Detroit.

Hester is a former undrafted free agent out of UCLA. Ness has been bouncing around the league since 2009. They’re probably both just practice bodies.

Ness, an undrafted free agent from Arizona, lasted only a week on the roster. He’s been with three different organizations since April’s draft snubbing.
