Chiefs signed Vanderbilt WR Kalija Lipscomb.
Lipscomb (6'0/207) finished with an SEC-high 87 receptions in 2018 from senior QB Kyle Shurmur but suffered from shoddy play under center in his final year at Vanderbilt. Lipscomb still finished with the second-most touchdown receptions (22) in school history behind veteran WR Jordan Matthews. He was never an intimidating deep threat with the Commodores, most recently hauling in 10 balls 10-plus yards downfield in 2019, but Lipscomb’s subpar 4.57 40-speed is a red flag for any downfield production in the NFL. He projects as a backup pass catcher, and ultimately needs to add muscle to his frame to be taken seriously among Kansas City’s stacked roster.
