Dolphins undrafted rookie S Kelcie McCray revealed Tuesday night that he fractured his foot in training camp practice.
A promising UDFA, McCray will likely be waived/injured Wednesday and spend his rookie year “redshirting” on I.R. He played college ball at Arkansas State.

The South Florida Sun-Sentinel confirms Kelcie McCray is “in the mix” for the Dolphins’ free safety job.
McCray went undrafted in 2012 and spent his rookie season on injured reserve, but the Dolphins are counting on him to take a big step forward now that he’s finally healthy. Miami didn’t address free safety in the draft. McCray will compete for a starting role with Chris Clemons and Jimmy Wilson in training camp.

Dolphins coach Joe Philbin is “excited” about second-year FS Kelcie McCray.
A 2012 minicamp star, undrafted rookie McCray missed his entire first season with a broken foot. McCray goes 6-foot-2, 202 and ran 4.55 at last year’s Combine. He could push Chris Clemons for Miami’s free safety job this summer.
  • FA Defensive Back
Bucs claimed S Kelcie McCray off waivers from the Dolphins.
McCray takes the roster spot vacated by S Ahmad Black. McCray was reportedly “in the mix” to earn the Dolphins’ starting free safety job in the spring. That quickly amounted to nothing. He appeared in all four games for Miami this season but didn’t register on the stat sheet. McCray is pure depth.
  • FA Defensive Back
Seahawks acquired S Kelcie McCray from the Chiefs in exchange for a conditional 2016 fifth-round pick.
A standout special teamer, McCray was traded from the Bucs to Kansas City last preseason. With Kam Chancellor holding out, McCray gives Seattle safety depth. Dion Bailey will start if Chancellor doesn’t return for Week 1.
  • FA Defensive Back
    Chiefs re-signed S Kelcie McCray.
McCray made 11 tackles last season as a core special teamer and backup safety. His best chance to see extended snaps will be if Husain Abdullah gets hurt.
  • FA Defensive Back
Chiefs acquired S Kelcie McCray from the Bucs in exchange for OG Rishaw Johnson.
McCray appeared in 15 games between the Bucs and Dolphins last season, making 12 tackles in 104 snaps for the Bucs. He’s an extra body as the Chiefs wait on Eric Berry’s heel to heal. Husain Abdullah is starting opposite Berry, but the Chiefs were low on depth after Sanders Commings broke his ankle.
