Rush

OL Jeremiah Poutasi was placed on injured reserve in a corresponding move. Rush made a name for himself with six sacks in the preseason. The Jaguars will likely hope to sign him to a reserve/future contract after the season.

A 2015 UDFA out of Michigan State, Rush made a name for himself by recording six sacks last preseason. Despite that performance, he spent most of the year on the 49ers’ practice squad before two late-season appearances with the Jaguars, his first in the NFL.

Rush (6'2/247) made 53 starts for the Spartans, compiling 37.5 career TFLs and 18.5 sacks to go with five forced fumbles. He made All-Big Ten honorable mention as a junior and senior. Rush ran 4.68 at the MSU Pro Day with a 36-inch vertical and 9-foot-9 broad jump. Rush is a good athlete, but will be a 24-year-old rookie and lacks the explosive movement required to become a consistent NFL sack threat. He’ll likely max out as a special teamer and rotational piece on defense.
