Giants signed LHP Matt Hall to a minor league contract.
Hall recorded an inflated 7.36 ERA, 2.07 WHIP and 37/26 K/BB ratio across 36 2/3 innings (28 appearances) last year at Triple-A Worcester before being released in mid-August. The 28-year-old left-hander has made 25 relief appearances at the big-league level since 2018 and will augment the Giants’ organizational relief depth.

Red Sox designated LHP Matt Hall for assignment.
The 27-year-old southpaw struggled during his time with the Red Sox in 2020, compiling a horrifying 18.69 ERA, 3.12 WHIP and 9/10 K/BB ratio over 8 2/3 innings. It’s unclear if he’ll accept the outright assignment or attempt to explore his options elsewhere in free agency.

Red Sox optioned LHP Matt Hall to their alternate training site.
Hall was crushed for four runs over 2 1/3 innings in Friday’s loss to the Rays and now he’s being sent out to make room for Nathan Eovaldi’s return on Saturday. Hall owns a miserable 18.69 ERA and 3.11 WHIP over 8 2/3 innings with the Red Sox this season.

Matt Hall was knocked around for four runs in 2 1/3 innings and took the loss Friday against the Rays.
Andrew Triggs served as the opener and delivered a scoreless first inning, but Hall was in trouble the moment he entered the game, serving a leadoff homer to Yoshi Tsutsugo. He ended up allowing six hits and walked two in the 15 batters he faced. Hall has been flat-out awful in every opportunity he’s had this season. Just to put things in perspective, he somehow lowered his ERA from 19.89 to 18.69 on Friday. Either way, he’s certainly not a fantasy option and it’s hard to believe the Red Sox can’t do better.

Red Sox recalled LHP Matt Hall from their alternate training site.
Hall will replace Zack Godley, who went on the injured list with a flexor strain in his right elbow. He is the not-so-proud owner of a 19.89 ERA in three appearances with Boston this season.

Hall was just up for Friday’s doubleheader but didn’t pitch. He’ll give the bullpen some length.
