Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that Andrew Toles has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.
Toles was arrested for trespassing last week in Florida after being found sleeping behind the Federal Express building at Key West International Airport. The 28-year-old’s sister told Nightengale that her brother has been in and out of at least 20 mental health facilities since 2019. Toles hasn’t played in the majors since 2018 and seems unlikely to step foot on a baseball field again, but obviously his mental health is the priority at this point.

Andrew Toles was arrested for trespassing earlier this week in Florida after being found sleeping behind the Federal Express building at Key West International Airport.
Per a police report obtained by the Miami Herald, officers gave Toles “several chances to leave the area without being arrested but he wouldn’t walk away.” All he had with him was a black book bag, and his address was listed only as “the streets of Key West.” The last we heard from Toles, at least on the pages of Rotoworld, he had disappeared from extended spring training with the Dodgers in May 2019. It’s a disturbing situation, and many of Toles’ former teammates are expressing concern on social media Friday. Toles, 28, hasn’t played in a professional baseball game since September 2018.

Andrew Toles is no longer working out at the Dodgers’ spring training facility.
Manager Dave Roberts didn’t have any other details other than to say that he believes Toles is spending time with his family. Toles has been on the restricted list since March because of an undisclosed personal issue and it doesn’t sound like the Dodgers can count on him this season.

Andrew Toles has reported to the Dodgers’ spring training facility in Arizona.
Toles never reported to spring training due to an undisclosed personal issue and was eventually placed on the restricted list. The Dodgers still haven’t commented on why Toles had been away, nor are they offering a timetable for his return to game action. For now, he remains on the restricted list and off the 40-man roster.

Andrew Toles isn’t reporting to Dodgers’ spring training Monday due to a personal matter.
No further details were provided, so it’s unclear when he’ll join the team. The 26-year-old Toles appeared in 17 games with the Dodgers last season, but he could play a bigger role this year.

Andrew Toles went 3-for-4 with two runs scored in a win over the Cardinals on Saturday.
The multi-hit game was the first for Toles as a major leaguer. The 24-year-old has had a strong start to his big league career, hitting .391/.440/.478 with two doubles and a stolen base in 10 games. He played right field on Saturday, and between Joc Pederson’s struggles and Yasiel Puig’s ailments, Toles could find more playing time in the weeks ahead.
  • INT Right Fielder #66
Yasiel Puig (hamstring) remained out of the Dodgers’ lineup Sunday.
Puig was able to pinch-hit Friday, but he hasn’t started a game since tweaking his right hamstring on Thursday. It doesn’t appear at this point that a disabled list stint is being considered. Andrew Toles is in right field.

Josh Reddick was scratched from the Dodgers’ starting lineup on Monday due to a jammed middle finger on his right hand.
Andrew Toles will start in his place against Reds right-hander Homer Bailey. Reddick has been a disappointment so far with Los Angeles, slashing .152/.211/.167 with zero homers and zero RBI in 71 plate appearances. He said he’s unsure how or when he suffered the jammed finger.
