Andrew Walters underwent right shoulder surgery on Monday to repair his lat muscle.
No word on how long Walters will be sidelined, but it’s going to be a challenge for him to make it back this season. The 24-year-old rookie was transferred to the 60-day injured list last week after hitting the shelf back in late May with a lat strain.

Guardians transferred RHP Andrew Walters to the 60-day injured list.
Nothing has changed in the prognosis for the 24-year-old hurler, who is still working his way back from a right lat strain, this was merely done as a procedural move to free up a spot on the team’s 40-man roster for the addition of Dom Nuñez on Friday.

Guardians placed RHP Andrew Walters on the 15-day injured list with a right lat strain.
Walters is likely facing an extended absence given the nature of the injury. The 24-year-old righty made two relief appearances for Cleveland after being called up earlier this week from Triple-A Columbus.
  • CLE Relief Pitcher #63
Guardians recalled RHP Andrew Walters from Triple-A Columbus.
Walters has been rock-solid in Triple-A, allowing two earned runs on five hits in 12 innings while striking out 23 and walking nine. He will serve as a middle reliever in Cleveland for the time being.
  • CLE Right Fielder #17
Guardians optioned OF Will Brennan and RHP Andrew Walters to Triple-A Columbus; reassigned RHP Vince Velasquez and LHP Kolby Allard to minor league camp.
Brennan’s shot at making Cleveland’s season-opening roster evaporated last weekend when the club swung a trade with the Rockies to bring back corner outfielder Nolan Jones. He’ll open the regular season back in the minors, but should be the Guardians first call when injuries strike at the highest level.
