Yankees optioned RHP Anthony Claggett to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
There was no doubt that the Yankees would go get another fresh arm after Saturday’s debacle. Claggett allowed eight runs in 1 2/3 innings in relief of Chien-Ming Wang.

Yankees purchased the contract of pitcher Anthony Claggett from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
With the Yankees starters failing to get deep into games, they needed another arm. Claggett was one of the pitchers acquired in the Gary Sheffield trade back in November of 2006. He had a 3.38 ERA in three appearances for Scranton/Wilkes Barre this season.

Yankees recalled RHP Anthony Claggett from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
The Yankees have better options, but they’ll give Claggett another try after he gave up eight runs in 1 2/3 innings in his one appearance last month. The 24-year-old is a long shot to last as a major league reliever.

Yankees optioned RHP Anthony Claggett to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
And so ends Claggett’s second one-day stay in the majors in the season’s first month. Claggett’s enduring big league legacy is the eight runs in 1 2/3 innings that he suffered through in a Saturday afternoon massacre last month.

Yankees optioned RHP Anthony Claggett to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Claggett gave up two runs in his inning against the Red Sox on Thursday. He’s made two appearances in three stints with the Yankees.

Pirates claimed RHP Anthony Claggett off waivers from the New York Yankees.
Claggett was part of the Gary Sheffield trade in 2006. The 26-year old made his major league debut this year, pitching 2 2/3 innings of an unsightly ERA. For Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, he pitched admirably despite seeing his K/9 rate almost halved from the year before. The Pirates will attempt to put him back on track. Jose Ascanio was transferred to the 60-day disabled list to make room on the 40-man roster.

Yankees designated RHP Anthony Claggett for assignment.
Claggett’s enduring legacy is allowing eight runs in 1 2/3 innings in relief of Chien-Ming Wang in a Saturday game in mid-April. He made two appearances in three stints with the Yankees, posting a 33.75 ERA in 2 2/3 innings.

Anthony Claggett is expected to be called up to join the Yankees on Wednesday.
The right-hander is expected to provide bullpen help with Sergio Mitre on the hill and should not be a consideration in fantasy leagues. It’s uncertain what corresponding roster move the Yankees will make, but one possibility is that Cody Ransom will be designated for assignment to make room.

Yankees recalled RHP Anthony Claggett from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Claggett had two one-day stays with the Yankees in the season’s first month. Odds are that you remember the first one: Claggett allowed eight runs in 1 2/3 innings in relief of Chien-Ming Wang in a Saturday game in mid-April. Unfortunately, that leaves him with a career 43.20 ERA. Hopefully he will get an opportunity to lower that number this time around. The right-hander provides the Yankees with bullpen depth and is not fantasy relevant.

Pirates designated RHP Anthony Claggett for assignment.
The Pirates needed to clear some space on their 40-man roster to make room for Octavio Dotel. Claggett was claimed off waivers from the Yankees in September. The 26-year-old right-hander made three appearances in the majors last season, but spent most of his season with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, posting a 3.07 ERA and 1.34 WHIP in 39 games (five starts). While these numbers look serviceable, his strikeout rate collapsed to just 4.7 K/9 last season, more than two strikeouts below his career average.
