Athletics OF prospect Brayan Buelvas homered twice on Wednesday for Low-A Stockton.
Buelvas has already homered seven times in 24 games for the Ports, and the pair of homers help improve his slugging percentage to .522 in 92 at-bats. He’s also hitting just .239 and has struck out 33 times in that timeframe, so it hasn’t all been good for the 19-year-old. Signed out of Colombia for $100,000; Buelvas is a quality athlete who is starting to put things together on the field, and his swing suggests he can hit for both average and power while providing some swipes as well. He’s also a strong defender in the outfielder which doesn’t hurt. Buelvas has work to be done, but he could hit at or near the top of the A’s lineup in the coming years. An ETA of 2023 isn’t unreasonable.
