    Rockies released INF Bret Boswell.
Boswell was on the Rockies’ 40-man roster for a few years until the 2021 campaign and never wound up making it to Colorado. The 28-year-old infielder posted a .634 OPS across 66 games this season for Double-A Hartford.
  • MLB 2nd Baseman #93
Rockies re-signed SS Bret Boswell to a minor league contract.
Among the top prospects in Colorado’s system a few years ago, Boswell was removed from the Rockies’ 40-man roster in the early stages of the 2021 season after suffering a serious ankle injury and has yet to reach the majors. The 28-year-old infielder batted .247/.340/.432 with 12 round-trippers and six steals in 329 plate appearances last season for Triple-A Albuquerque.

  • MLB 2nd Baseman #93
Rockies designated INF/OF Bret Boswell for assignment.
Boswell recently suffered a serious ankle injury at the team’s alternate site and will miss the rest of the season, which prompted the transaction. The move clears a spot for the newly-claimed Rio Ruiz on the roster.

  • MLB 2nd Baseman #93
Rockies purchased the contract of 2B Bret Boswell.
The move protects the 26-year-old from the Rule-5 draft. Boswell -- an eighth round pick of the Rockies from the 2017 draft -- hit just .219/.290/.397 with 15 homers and 39 RBI in 106 games at Double-A Hartford in 2019.
