Mariners optioned LHP Robinson Ortiz to Triple-A Tacoma; reassigned LHP Kade Anderson, C Brian O’Keefe, SS Will Wilson, 1B Patrick Wisdom and RHPS Guillo Zuñiga and Randy Dobnak to minor league camp.
Anderson, the third-overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft, looked extremely impressive in three Cactus League outings this spring and appears to be on the fast-track to the big leagues. The 21-year-old southpaw possesses enough strikeout upside to make an immediate fantasy impact once he reaches the majors. He’s one of the few pitching prospects worth stashing at the outset of the year, especially in deeper mixed leagues.
  • SEA Catcher #0
Mariners signed C Brian O’Keefe to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
The 32-year-old backstop spent the 2025 season in the Royals’ organization where he slashed a miserable .158/.236/.274 with four homers and 10 RBI in 162 plate appearances at Triple-A Omaha. He’ll add catching depth in big league camp for the M’s.
  • 2nd Baseman #36
Royals assigned IF Harold Castro, RHP Taylor Clarke, C Brian O’Keefe and IF Tyler Tolbert to minor league camp.
None of the aforementioned players were favorites to break camp with the team. However, Castro could see at-bats this season as a depth piece, while Clarke will likely get innings out of the bullpen at some point during the season when injuries strike.
  • KC Outfield
Royals outfield prospect Gavin Cross was one of 23 players to receive invitations to MLB spring training on Friday.
While Jac Caglianone is the biggets name on the list of non-roster invitees, Cross is intriguing in his own right. The 23-year-old outfielder — and ninth overall pick from the 2022 draft class — slashed .261/.342/.428 with 15 homers, 59 RBI and 30 stolen bases (32 attempts) in 101 games at Double-A Northwest Arkansas in 2024. There’s a good chance that we see him in Kansas City at some point during the 2025 season and his speed would give him some appeal from a fantasy perspective.
  • KC Catcher #64
Royals re-signed C Brian O’Keefe to a minor league contract.
O’Keefe is merely emergency catching depth at this stage of his career. The 31-year-old backstop got into 10 contests for the Mariners from 2022 to 2023 and hasn’t been back in the big leagues ever since. He’ll most likely open next season at Triple-A Omaha.
  • KC Catcher #64
Royals signed C Brian O’Keefe to a minor league contract.
O’Keefe bolsters Kansas City’s catching depth at Triple-A Omaha after failing to land a spot during spring training on Minnesota’s season-opening roster. The 30-year-old journeyman backstop has gotten into 10 contests at the major-league level, all with the Mariners, since 2022.
  • Relief Pitcher #50
Twins reassigned RHPs Matt Bowman and Jeff Brigham, Cs Brian O’Keefe and Chris Williams, INFs Michael Helman and Anthony Prato and UTIL Niko Goodrum to minor league camp.
The 32-year-old right-hander will begin the 2024 season down at Triple-A after he posted a 4.15 ERA in 8 2/3 innings of work with the Twins in Spring Training. Bowman spent the past three seasons in the Yankees’ farm system and hasn’t made more than three appearances in the majors since 2019.
  • MIN Catcher #64
Twins signed C Brian O’Keefe to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
O’Keefe appeared in eight games for the Mariners during the 2023 campaign, going 2-for-19 (.105) with two doubles, two RBI and a 7/2 K/BB ratio in 21 plate appearances. He’ll add catching depth in big league camp for the Twins.
  • SEA Catcher #64
Mariners sent C Brian O’Keefe outright to Triple-A Tacoma.
It’s possible O’Keefe will opt to stick around as organizational catching depth for the Mariners after being removed from the club’s 40-man roster, but he’ll likely wind up electing free agency. The 30-year-old backstop got into eight games this season for Seattle after spending the majority of the year at Triple-A Tacoma.
  • SEA Catcher #64
Mariners designated C Brian O’Keefe for assignment.
The move clears a spot for waiver claim Kaleb Ort on the 40-man roster. O’Keefe, 30, appeared in eight games with the Mariners this season while going 2-for-19 with two doubles and two RBI.
