Yankees acquired OF Cam Eden from the Blue Jays for cash considerations.
Eden will report to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to begin his Yankees’ career. The 26-year-old speedster was having a rough year offensively at Triple-A Buffalo, slashing just .198/.299/.322 with seven homers, 35 RBI and 26 stolen bases in 332 plate appearances.
  • TOR Shortstop #49
Blue Jays optioned SS Leo Jimenez to Triple-A Buffalo; reassigned OF Cam Eden to minor league camp.
Jimenez has been on Toronto’s 40-man roster since 2021, but has yet to reach the majors. Eden made his big-league debut last year, getting into six contests for the Blue Jays, going 1-for-6 at the dish.
  • TOR Starting Pitcher #70
Blue Jays LHP Ricky Tiedemann and 18 other players were invited to spring training.
Tiedemann — universally considered among the top pitching prospects in the game — should get a legitimate shot at cracking the Jays’ Opening Day rotation. Injuries limited him to just 44 innings over 15 minor league starts in 2023 before he concluded his season by taking home Pitcher of the Year honors in the Arizona Fall League. The 18 other players invited to major league spring training on Monday were RHP Andrew Bash, C Zach Britton, LHP Jimmy Burnette, C Phil Clarke, RHP Connor Cooke, RHP Chad Dallas, INF Luis De Los Santos, OF Cam Eden, LHP Brandon Eisert, LHP Mason Fluharty, RHP Devereaux Harrison, RHP Ryan Jennings, RHP Hayden Juenger, INF Damiano Palmegiani, OF Will Robertson, OF Alan Roden, C Brian Serven and Andres Sosa.
  • TOR Outfield
Blue Jays sent OF Cam Eden outright to Triple-A Buffalo.
Eden was summoned to the majors in late September, after notching 53 stolen bases at the Triple-A level, and wound up getting into five contests prior to making Toronto’s postseason roster. The 25-year-old outfielder will open next season at Triple-A Buffalo as extra outfield depth, but could get an extended look at some point.
  • TOR Outfield
Cam Eden has made the Blue Jays’ Wild Card roster.
Eden is there almost exclusively because of his speed. The 25-year-old went 53-for-57 in stolen base attempts in Triple-A this season, so the Blue Jays will pick their spots for when to maximize his value.
  • TOR Outfield
Blue Jays selected the contract of OF Cam Eden from Triple-A Buffalo.
Eden will make his major league debut after hitting .257/.354/.333 for Buffalo. The key number here is 53, which is the number of bases Eden stole in 57 attempts in Triple-A. The Jays will see if maybe he can win them a game or two here as a late-inning pinch-runner.
