Why the two-year deal? Because Febles suffered a torn ACL playing winter ball and will sit out the season. Febles, still just 28 years old, intends to return as a player in 2006, but the Royals’ long-term plan is to make him a coach in the organization.

Febles may not start for a game or two, but is available for the duties Pena mentioned.

Not good. Febles at least has some upside. Tucker’s career OBP is .339 and he’s been under that the last two years. If Febles doesn’t bat first, he’ll probably bat ninth, which would really damage his fantasy value.
