Hermansen

Hermansen will be used as a pinch-hitter and defensive replacement. Daryle Ward, guaranteed $1.35 million, was not among eight minor leaguers to receive promotions.

Once healthy, Hermansen will spend 20 days in the minors. The outfielder is out of options and probably will end up being sent through waivers.

To make room for the two, it’s likely that Dave Roberts will go on the DL and Jason Romano will be option to Triple-A Las Vegas. Hermansen should have some short-term value in NL-only leagues.

Some team might decide to take a chance on Hermansen, who was hitting .399 and slugging .664 before being called up earlier this month. There are worse reserve outfielders around.

Hermansen, competing for a spot as the Dodgers’ fifth outfielder, is recovering from shoulder surgery and isn’t yet ready to play in games. Ruan will begin the season in Triple-A.

Hermansen is coming back from shoulder surgery. He’ll probably be sent to the minors after finishing his rehab assignment, but since he’s out of options, he’ll need to clear waivers.

It’s unlikely that the Dodgers have any intention of bringing Hermansen to the majors any time soon, but the outfielder has been quite impressive while rehabbing. He’s batting .412 with three homers in 10 games for Las Vegas.

The Dodgers would like to see Hermansen win a job as a fifth outfielder and possible platoon partner for Dave Roberts, but it’s possible that his shoulder will hurt his chances. If so, Calvin Murray could claim the job.

Hermansen, who was on the disabled list at Triple-A Albuquerque due to a bruised foot, will report to the Mets’ Triple-A team in New Orleans when he is healthy.

They also invited RHP Nick Adenhart, RHP Stephen Marek, RHP Darren O’Day, RHP Kasey Olenberger, RHP Fernando Rodriguez, RHP Rafael Rodriguez, RHP Alex Serrano, RHP Matt Wilhite, C Hank Conger, C Anel De Los Santos, C Tim Duff, 2B Ryan Mount, 2B Adam Pavkovich, SS P.J. Phillips, 3B Freddy Sandoval, SS Hainley Statia, 2B Nate Sutton and OF Peter Bourjos to spring training. There’s no one in either list with a realistic chance of breaking camp with the team. As deep as the Angels’ outfield is, Brown and Hermansen should have picked other teams to sign with.
