Athletics reassigned SS Leo De Vries, LHPs Gage Jump and Matt Krook, C Chad Wallach, 3B Tommy White, 2B Michael Stefanic, OFs Cade Marlowe and Henry Bolte, RHPs Nick Hernandez, Brooks Kriske and Wander Suero to minor league camp.
De Vries put together an extremely impressive showing in Cactus League play, hitting .409 (18-for-44) with three homers and 11 RBI in 17 contests. The switch-hitting 19-year-old prodigy was the centerpiece of the Mason Miller blockbuster at the trade deadline last July and will open the minor league season at Double-A Midland. It wouldn’t be shocking at all if he reached the big leagues as a teenager in the second half. He’s one of the top 10 prospects in the entire fantasy landscape entering 2026.

Chad Wallach blasted a two-run homer on Friday afternoon, powering the Athletics to a 13-4 victory over the Brewers in Cactus League play.
The A’s rallied with two outs in the second inning as Tommy White singled and Michael Stefanic followed with an RBI triple. Wallach then strolled to the dish and ambushed a first-pitch fastball from Kyle Harrison for a 406-foot (103.3 mph EV) two-run shot that increased the A’s advantage to 3-0. That would be his only hit in three at-bats on the day. For the spring, the 34-year-old backstop is hitting .105 (2-for-19) with just the one home run and two RBI.
  • ATH Catcher #35
Athletics signed C Chad Wallach to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Wallach has bounced around the AL West for nearly a half-decade, splitting time with the Angels and Rangers since 2021. The 34-year-old veteran backstop fits the prototypical mold for a break glass in case of emergency catching option behind starter Shea Langeliers and veteran caddy Austin Wynns. He’ll be stashed away as organizational depth at Triple-A Las Vegas after spring training concludes.
  • FA Catcher #35
Angels C Chad Wallach elected free agency.
Wallach got into exactly one game for the Angels this past season and is merely emergency organizational depth at this advanced stage of his career. The 33-year-old journeyman backstop has appeared in 156 contests in the big leagues dating back to 2017.
  • LAA Catcher #35
Angels sent C Chad Wallach outright to Triple-A Salt Lake.
Wallach figures to stick around as emergency catching depth for the Angels for the final two weeks of the season before heading to minor league free agency. The 33-year-old journeyman backstop got into one game last week for the Halos while Travis d’Arnaud and Logan O’Hoppe were on the injured list.
  • LAA Catcher #35
Angels designated C Chad Wallach for assignment.
Wallach got into one game for the Angels after being brought up last week from Triple-A when Travis d’Arnaud hit the concussion injured list.
  • LAA Catcher #12
Angels selected the contract of C Chad Wallach from Triple-A Salt Lake.
With Travis d’Arnaud landing on the 7-day concussion injured list on Friday, Wallach will rejoin the Angels to provide some depth behind the plate. The 33-year-old backstop is a career .198/.263/.328 hitter at the big league level and can be ignored for fantasy purposes.
  • LAA Catcher #12
Angels signed C Chad Wallach to a minor league contract.
Wallach returns to Los Angeles, where he last appeared in the big leagues back in 2023, just a couple days after being released by the Rangers. The 33-year-old veteran backstop is merely emergency organizational catching depth at this advanced stage of his career.
  • TEX Shortstop #23
Rangers reassigned SS Nick Ahmed, C Tucker Barnhart, RHP David Buchanan, RHP JT Chargois, RHP Adrian Houser, RHP Joe Barlow, RHP Matt Festa, INF Alan Trejo, C Chad Wallach and OF Alejandro Osuna to minor league camp.
Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News adds that Ahmed and Barnhart are still weighing the possibility of opting out of their minor league deals to hit free agency. There are no real surprises here among the latest batch of cuts, but Osuna stands out since he made a really strong impression this spring to put himself in position as an option for the Rangers outfield mix at some point later this year.
  • TEX Catcher #35
Rangers signed C Chad Wallach to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
The 33-year-old backstop spent the 2024 season in the Angels’ organization, where he slashed .247/.337/.430 with 12 homers and 46 RBI in 335 plate appearances at Triple-A Salt Lake. He’ll provide some quality depth behind the plate for the Rangers.
