    Padres signed RHP Chase Johnson to a minor league contract.
    Johnson, 27, spent his first seven professional seasons toiling in the Giants’ organization. He had a rough year in 2019, registering a 4.69 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 75/42 K/BB ratio over 80 2/3 innings across three minor league levels. He’ll add depth in the upper levels of the minors for the Padres.

    The 24-year-old hurler alternated between the bullpen and rotation for Double-A Richmond in 2016, compiling a 3.27 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 37/18 K/BB ratio over 52 1/3 innings. He’ll continue to function as organizational pitching depth for the Giants.
