Erick Fedde worked five innings in relief while allowing just two runs — one of them earned — against Atlanta on Tuesday.
Fedde worked behind opener Brandon Elsert, and Elsert gave up a two-run homer while getting just two outs before exiting. Fedde was much more effective, and he struck out four while scattering six hits before leaving with one out in the seventh. Fedde has looked solid over his last few outings after his ugly start to the campaign, but fantasy managers should be aware that he has to face the Dodgers on Sunday.

Braden Montgomery hit a walk-off two-run homer in his MLB debut to give the White Sox a 6-5 win over Atlanta on Tuesday.
Montgomery also had an RBI single in the fourth, but obviously that’s not the headline. The 23-year-old came to the plate with two outs in the bottom of the tenth and the White Sox trailing by one, and he connected on his first MLB roundtripper to give Chicago the walk-off win. Montgomery is one of the best outfield prospects in the sport, and while fantasy managers have to be prepared for ups and downs from the outfielder in his rookie campaign, the talent is obvious. He’s absolutely worthy of roster consideration right now.
  • CWS Shortstop #12
Colson Montgomery is out of the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Braves with back tightness.
White Sox manager Will Venable told reporters that Montgomery is day-to-day for now. The 24-year-old shortstop is hitting just .154 (4-for-26) with two homers and three RBI over his last seven games. Luisangel Acuña, who does not switch-hit, will take over at shortstop in his absence.
  • CWS Left Fielder #21
White Sox transferred OF Austin Hays from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.
Hays is now technically off the 40-man roster, and that creates room for Braden Montgomery to join the club. Hays was pulled off his rehab assignment at the beginning of the month while recovering from his left calf strain, and won’t be eligible to rejoin Chicago until the early portion of July.
  • CWS 2nd Baseman
White Sox optioned OF Rikuu Nishida to Triple-A Charlotte.
Nishida went 12-for-29 (.241) without an extra base hit or a stolen base after being promoted from Triple-A near the end of May. He’ll head back to Triple-A with Braden Montgomery ready to join the White Sox in a corresponding move.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #54
White Sox optioned RHP David Sandlin to Triple-A Charlotte.
Sandlin gets the demotion after struggling over 3 1/3 innings and allowing three runs against the Phillies on Sunday. The 25-year-old will likely be back before the season concludes, but fantasy managers should look elsewhere whenever that promotion takes place.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher
White Sox recalled LHP Joe Rock from Triple-A Charlotte.
Rock, 25, was acquired by the White Sox in a deal for Oliver Dunn in the middle of May. The left-hander will have a chance to make his MLB debut while with the White Sox, but likely in a role that doesn’t have any fantasy significance.
  • CWS Center Fielder #92
White Sox selected the contract of OF Braden Montgomery from Triple-A Charlotte.
Montgomery will be making his MLB debut Tuesday against the Braves. The 12th pick of the 2023 draft, Montgomery was acquired in the Garret Crochet blockbuster, and the 23-year-old has a chance to be a contributor in several fantasy categories. He’s worth roster consideration for those who need the outfield help.
  • CWS Center Fielder #92
Multiple outlets report that there the White Sox will call up Braden Montgomery before Tuesday’s game against the Braves.
Matt Snyder of CBS Sports was the first to report the promotion, and it’s since been confirmed by every White Sox writer since. Montgomery is the 31st-ranked prospect in baseball, according to MLB Pipeline, and the 23-year-old hit .313/.429/.606 in 27 games at Double-A this season with six home runs and two steals before getting promoted to Triple-A, where he has hit .315/.417/.495 with four home runs, 32 runs scored, 19 RBI, and three steals in 29 games. He’s not on the 40-man roster, so the White Sox will need to make a few roster moves to call him up, but Montgomery could be added over guys like Henry Bolte and Ryan Waldschmidt if he were to be called up.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #82
White Sox LHP prospect Hagen Smith threw 4 2/3 shutout innings for Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday, striking out nine and allowing three hits.
Smith also walked three, so he was unable to complete five innings yet again, but he did throw 92 pitches in this outing, which is the most he’s ever thrown in pro ball. In his last three starts, Smith has allowed three runs on nine hits in 14 innings while striking out 25 and walking six. He has only completed five innings in one of those starts, so efficiency and command remain key issues for the 22-year-old, but he seems to be starting to round into form.
