Chris Paddack is not on the Tigers’ roster for the AL Wild Card Series.
Paddack was one of the Tigers’ lone trade deadline acquisitions, but he has a 5.35 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, and a 112/37 K/BB ratio in 158 innings on the season. With this series being a best-of-three, the Tigers don’t need as many starting pitchers, so Paul Sewald will make the roster over Paddack.

Chris Paddack struggled in a losing effort against the Red Sox on Sunday afternoon, surrendering four runs on seven hits over his 4 1/3 innings of work.
The 29-year-old hurler also walked four batters on the afternoon while striking out five. The Tigers staked him to an early 3-1 lead in this one, but Paddack gave it right back by serving up a two-run homer to David Hamilton in the fourth inning and then an RBI double to Jarren Duran. He got 15 swings and misses on 104 pitches on the day, registering a CSW of 28 percent. Paddack wraps up a disappointing season with a 5-12 record, 5.35 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and a 112/37 K/BB ratio across 158 innings in 33 appearances (28 starts) between the Tigers and Twins.

Tarik Skubal is no longer starting Sunday’s regular-season finale against the Red Sox.
With a playoff berth secured, Detroit will hold back their ace for Game 1 of next week’s Wild Card Series. Chris Paddack will start Sunday’s regular-season finale against the Red Sox at Fenway Park with the AL Central title still up for grabs. The Guardians own the head-to-head tiebreaker, so Detroit would need a Cleveland loss to Texas to claim the division.

Chris Paddack notched the first save of his big league career on Tuesday night, working three scoreless innings in a lopsided victory over the Yankees.
Paddack came on after the Tigers erupted for nine runs in the top half of the seventh inning to take a commanding 11-2 lead. All he needed to do was keep the train on the tracks. He did better than that, retiring all nine hitters that he faced in order, including four punchouts. It’s unlikely that Paddack blossoms into a high-leverage specialist in the Tigers’ bullpen, but this is much better than we have seen from him in a while. For the season, he sports a 5.26 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and a 102/32 K/BB ratio over 145 1/3 innings in 29 appearances (27 starts).

Tigers activated RHP Chris Paddack from the bereavement list.
Paddack is back after spending a couple days away from the club on bereavement leave. The 29-year-old righty was moved to the bullpen earlier this week after being lit up in a handful of starts since coming over from the division-rival Twins at the trade deadline.

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch told reporters Chris Paddack is being moved to the bullpen.
Paddack recorded a calamitous 5.40 ERA and served up eight homers in 30 innings since being acquired at the trade deadline from the division-rival Twins. He surrendered three runs and lasted only 3 2/3 innings last Friday against the Royals. He’s expected to be available to pitch in relief as early as Tuesday’s game against the Mets. It’s probably Sawyer Gipson-Long taking his spot in Detroit’s rotation for now.

Chris Paddack struggled in a no-decision against the Royals on Friday night, allowing three runs on five hits over 3 2/3 innings.
Paddack didn’t walk a batter or record a strikeout in the outing. All of the damage done against him came via the long ball, as Mike Yastrzemski crushed a leadoff home run and Maikel Garcia added a two-run blast later in the first inning. He settled in a bit afterwards but was still lifted with two outs in the fourth inning. Paddack got just three whiffs on 58 pitches on the night, posting a minuscule CSW of only 14 percent. He’ll try to improve upon his 5.04 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 97/32 K/BB ratio (141 innings) when he squares off against the Mets on Wednesday.

Chris Paddack allowed one run with one strikeout over five innings in a win against the Royals on Saturday.
Paddack worked through three scoreless innings before a single and double to start the fourth brought a run home for the Royals. Paddack gave the Tigers one more scoreless inning, ending his day after five frames with one strikeout. The 29-year-old right-hander will take a 4.98 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and a 97/32 K/BB ratio across 137 1/3 innings into a start against the same Royals in Kansas City on Friday.
