White Sox signed LHP Clayton Richard to a minor league contract.
Richard has been assigned to the team’s alternate training site in Schaumburg for now, but he could get the call to Chicago at some point. The 36-year-old left-hander registered a poor 5.96 ERA, 1.57 WHIP, and 22/18 K/BB ratio in 45 1/3 innings (10 starts) last season with the Blue Jays.

Blue Jays released LHP Clayton Richard.
Richard was activated off the injured list on September 2 but had not appeared in a game this month for Toronto. Assuming he doesn’t latch on somewhere else, the veteran left-hander finishes with a 5.96 ERA, 1.57 WHIP, and 22/18 K/BB ratio in 45 1/3 innings (10 starts) this season.

Blue Jays activated LHP Clayton Richard from the 10-day injured list.
Richard wound up missing about seven weeks with a left lat strain. He will apparently work out of the bullpen for now but could eventually slide back into a rotation spot. The veteran southpaw holds a 5.96 ERA in 45 1/3 innings (10 starts) this season with the Blue Jays.

Blue Jays placed LHP Clayton Richard on the 10-day injured list with a left lat strain.
Richard suffered the injury during his abbreviated start Saturday afternoon against the Yankees. Lat strains can sometimes sideline pitchers for multiple months, though there’s no word yet about the severity of Richard’s strain. Edwin Jackson has been activated in a corresponding 25-man roster move.

Clayton Richard turned in two scoreless innings in his start against the Yankees on Saturday.
He was removed after two innings due to left lat tightness. No word yet from the team regarding any potential injured list stint. Richard is 1-5 with a 5.96 ERA in 10 starts.

Clayton Richard logged a quality start in Saturday’s loss to the Orioles, allowing six runs (three earned) on seven hits over his six frames.
The veteran southpaw punched out two and walked one on the afternoon. The bulk of the damage done against him came during a five-run uprising in the fourth inning, which started with a two-run blast from Renato Nunez and included some shaky defense behind Richard. He concludes a rough first half with a 1-5 record, 6.23 ERA and 1.59 WHIP over 43 1/3 innings in his nine starts.

Clayton Richard allowed three runs on seven hits over six innings in a win over the Royals on Monday.
He walked one and struck out four in the victory. Richard wasn’t excellent or anything close, but he didn’t have to be as he was provided with 11 runs of run support before exiting. Sadly, this is one of the best starts of the year for the veteran southpaw, as it’s the first time in seven tries that he went six innings, and his ERA still sits at an ugly 6.51 over 37 1/3 innings with the Blue Jays. Richard will face Baltimore on Saturday.

Clayton Richard served up three homers but still managed a quality start Tuesday, allowing three runs in a loss to the Yankees.
It was the bare minimum as far as quality starts go, as Richard managed just one strikeout while giving up the three long balls. That said, he deserves some credit for settling in after a rough beginning, as he held the Yanks off the scoreboard for his final four frames. Richard gets the Royals on Sunday.

Clayton Richard surrendered four runs in five-plus innings and did not garner a decision against the Angels on Thursday.
He gave up six hits and two walks while striking out only two batters. He gave up two runs on a homer by Luis Rengifo in the second inning and individual runs in the fifth and sixth frames. The veteran left-hander has made six starts this year and is 0-3 with a 7.46 ERA and 1.74 WHIP. He has walked more batters (15) than he’s struck out (14) this year.

Clayton Richard struggled while allowing five runs over five frames against the Astros on Saturday.
Richard allowed seven hits in the five innings, and he struck out just one hitter while walking two. The 35-year-old has a small sample size because he didn’t debut until late in May, but he hasn’t pitched well in that sample with a 7.52 ERA and 12/13 K/BB ratio over 20 1/3 innings. The Angels are next for Richard, scheduled for Thursday.
