The Cubs are set to announce several minor league deals, including one for Cody Ransom, on Monday.
Not a very good situation for Ransom. He’ll have to return to Triple-A until injuries open up a spot for him.

The Giants plan to experiment with Cody Ransom in the outfield.
They’ve got to do something with four shortstops vying for time (Pedro Feliz, Deivi Cruz, and Neifi Perez are the others). ''We’re going to work Ransom a lot in the outfield,’' manager Felipe Alou said. ''He looks good there in practice. He covers a lot of ground.’' Ransom is hitting .313 since coming up from the minors.

Cody Ransom has opted to become a free agent.
Ransom, 35, batted just .152 (5-for-33) in a short stay with the Diamondbacks this year. But he posted an impressive 1.060 OPS, 25 home runs and 86 RBI in 91 games at Triple-A Reno. Someone will give him a shot.

Aaron Hill is not in the Diamondbacks’ starting lineup for Monday afternoon’s game against the Marlins.
The absence is not believed to be injury-related. Ryan Roberts is playing second base and Cody Ransom is handling third. Hill is batting .266/.363/.481 with four homers, two steals and 10 RBI in 22 games this season.

Cody Ransom continued providing a spark to the Diamondbacks offense, belting his third home run of the season in a 5-4 win over the Mets on Friday.
Ransom finished the night 2-for-3 with three RBI. He’s been on an absolute tear since being recalled from Triple-A a few weeks ago, now hitting .345 with three homers and 10 RBI. While he’s unlikely to continue at this pace, with Ryan Roberts struggling he should receive everyday playing time at third base and could be worth a flier as an injury replacement in deeper mixed leagues.

According to John Gambadoro of 620 KTAR in Phoenix, the Diamondbacks are likely to call up infielder Cody Ransom from Triple-A Reno.
We already know that outfielder A.J. Pollock will replace the injured Geoff Blum (side) on the active roster, but this would suggest that they Diamondbacks are preparing for the possibility that Chris Young (shoulder) or Justin Upton (thumb) will need a DL-stint. Ransom is hitting .294 (10-for-34) with two homers over his first 10 games at Triple-A this year.

Diamondbacks purchased the contract of INF Cody Ransom from Triple-A Reno.
He’ll take the place of the injured Chris Young (shoulder) on the active roster. Ransom is a .220/.304/.383 career hitter over 383 plate appearances in the majors, so he can be ignored in fantasy leagues.

Ryan Roberts was Arizona’s only non-pitcher not to get a hit in Monday’s 9-5 victory over Miami.
He finished 0-for-3 with a walk and an RBI, and is now posting a miserable .152/.240/.242 batting line. The 31-year-old journeyman surprised a lot of people last season with a combination of power and speed that few infielders could match. But in the midst of a 1-for-28 slump, Roberts now must prove that he deserves to remain an everyday starter, especially with Cody Ransom (1.150 OPS) hitting exceptionally well.

Diamondbacks re-signed INF Cody Ransom to a minor league contract.
Ransom batted just .152 (5-for-33) in his short time with Arizona in 2011, but he mashed at Triple-A Reno, sporting a 1.060 OPS, 25 home runs and 86 RBI in 91 games. He’ll return there for 2012.

Brewers claimed INF Cody Ransom off waivers from the Diamondbacks.
Ransom was designated for assignment by the Diamondbacks earlier this week despite posting a .922 OPS in 58 plate appearances. The 36-year-old has good power and should get regular playing time at shortstop in Milwaukee. He’s worth trying out in deeper mixed fantasy leagues.
