Connor Falkenbach surrendered three runs in two innings of relief Monday in his Double-A debut.
Falkenbach, who wasn’t taken until the 43rd round of the 2005 draft despite an excellent career as a reliever at Florida, had a 1.61 ERA and a 19/3 K/BB ratio in 22 1/3 innings for Single-A Dunedin. His upside is Todd Williams, but that’s still very good for where he was picked.

Connor Falkenbach earned a win for Single-A Dunedin Thursday after allowing one hit in four scoreless innings of relief.
It turned out that Falkenbach wasn’t ready for Double-A less than a year after being drafted in the 43rd round from Florida, but he was stellar after returning to the Florida State League in June, finishing with a 1.94 ERA in 55 2/3 innings of relief. Falkenbach is a groundball machine, something that could make him a useful middle reliever someday. That is his upside.
