Marlins sent OF Corey Bird outright to Triple-A Jacksonville.
Bird went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment last week when the Marlins made a flurry of moves at the trade deadline. The 25-year-old outfielder has been removed from the team’s 40-man roster and will remain with the organizations. He’s hit .270/.362/.444 with six homers and 12 steals across 224 plate appearances at Triple-A Jacksonville this season.

Marlins designated OF Corey Bird for assignment.
The 25-year-old just had his contract purchased from Triple-A on Wednesday, but didn’t even get a chance to appear in a game before being cut loose. There’s a good chance he’ll pass through waivers unclaimed and continue to serve as minor league outfield depth for the Marlins.
