De La Rosa

He’ll take the place of Josh Lueke on the active roster. De La Rosa, 29, appeared in seven games with the Rays last year and posted a 3.20 ERA and 83/26 K/BB ratio over 70 1/3 innings at Triple-A. Look for him in middle relief.

Not quite the lengthy stay that De La Rosa was hoping for. Recalled on Friday, he surrendered five runs on four hits and two walks on Saturday to the Red Sox. Alex Cobb will take his place on the active roster.

De La Rosa posted a 2.79 ERA and tallied 87 strikeouts in 67 2/3 innings this season for the Durham Bulls. He should do well in a middle relief role with Tampa Bay.

He’ll replace the injured Robert Coello (shoulder) in the Angels’ bullpen. The 30-year-old has a 4.05 ERA and 23 strikeouts over 26 innings with the big club this season.

De La Rosa made one appearance with the Rays earlier this season and held a 3.20 ERA and 10.6 K/9 rate in 52 games for Durham. He’ll provide middle relief depth.

The 6-foot-7 hurler has allowed four runs over 3 1/3 innings in the last week. His 20/8 K/BB rate in 22 innings is decent, but it doesn’t necessarily speak to any potential improvement coming. De La Rosa has never solved the puzzle of major league hitters, posting a 7.08 ERA over 33 games despite a shiny 33/13 K/BB rate.

De La Rosa didn’t pitch poorly for the Halos, holding a 4.05 ERA and 1.31 WHIP with 23 strikeouts over 26 1/3 frames. Their bullpen was burned on Wednesday, though, so they’ll bring up a fresh relief arm.
