The Orioles signed infielder David Newhan to a contract yesterday, and he will be in uniform for this evening’s game against the Rockies.
The 30-year-old Newhan became a free agent this week after the Rangers failed to promote him to the majors. Newhan was hitting .331 at Triple-A Oklahoma, and was 10-for-10 in stolen base attempts. He will serve as the Orioles’ utility infielder. However, if Melvin Mora is out of action for any length of time, Newhan could get some playing time at third base.
