Joe McDonald of the Providence Journal reports that the Red Sox have sent minor league first baseman Eddie Lora to the Mets to complete the Billy Wagner trade.
Lora, 20, batted .222/.287/.414 with three homers and seven RBI in 99 at-bats with the Red Sox Gulf Coast League affiliate in rookie ball. He was not regarded as one of the organization’s top 30 prospects according to Baseball America, but he has a nice frame, which could translate to increased power production in the years to come. It’s still possible the Mets could acquire Chris Carter during the off-season, but since the Yankees claimed him off waivers, the two teams will have to wait before completing a deal.

Mets acquired first baseman Eddie Lora and outfielder Chris Carter as the players to be named later for Billy Wagner.
The 20-year-old Lora batted .222/.287/.414 with three homers and seven RBI in 99 at-bats with the Red Sox’s Gulf Coast League affiliate in rookie ball. It remains to be seen whether or not he’ll make an impact at the big league level, but along with Carter, it’s a solid enough return for a player who didn’t factor into the Mets’ plans for 2010.
