Baltimore minor leaguer Ed Rogers remains at extended spring training with a sore back.
Rogers, who was considered the Orioles’ shortstop of the future until he turned out to be older than believed, will be assigned to Double-A Bowie once healthy.

Ed Rogers cleared waivers and was outrighted to Double-A Bowie.
The Orioles said there was one team interested in trading for Rogers, but that team backed out.

Orioles optioned infielder Ed Rogers to Triple-A Ottawa.
Rogers went 0-for-3 in his latest stint with the Orioles. That the infielder is getting sent down means John Halama will keep his roster spot for now.

Orioles recalled infielder Ed Rogers from Triple-A Ottawa.
We still believe the Orioles would be better off with Luis Terrero on the roster. Rogers was 0-for-3 in nine days with the O’s before being sent down on Monday.

Rogers went 3-for-10 with an RBI while helping to fill in for Brian Roberts.

Orioles recalled infielder Ed Rogers from Triple-A Ottawa.
Luis Terrero would have been a better choice, but he didn’t make a positive impression in his first stint with the team. Rogers was hitting .295/.351/.410 for Ottawa. It looks like he’ll get time in the outfield against lefties until Jay Gibbons returns.

Orioles signed infielder Ed Rogers to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
Yeah, he’s still around. Rogers, 26, hit .284/.340/.380 for Double-A Bowie last season.

Orioles purchased the contract of infielder Eddie Rogers from Triple-A Ottawa.
Seriously? That’s pretty funny. Rogers hit .261/.290/.373 in 426 AB for Ottawa. He was once considered the Orioles’ shortstop of the future, but he was never very good in the first place and agegate hit him hard. Not that he’ll get more than minimal playing time, but there have to be at least 50 middle infielders in Triple-A more worthy of this opportunity.

In his first at-bat of the year, Ed Rogers hit his first major league home run tonight in the ninth inning off Yankees reliever Alan Embree.
And we thought letting Embree go to the Yankees might come back to bite the Red Sox. We couldn’t have been more wrong. Rogers received three at-bats for the Orioles in 2002 in his only previous major league action. This will likely go down as his career highlight, but at least he’s trying right now. The same can hardly be said about Baltimore’s starting shortstop, Miguel Tejada.

Orioles sent infielder Eddie Rogers outright to Triple-A Ottawa.
Rogers hit .261/.290/.373 in 426 AB for Ottawa. The homer off Alan Embree last month may go down as his lone major league highlight.
