Eduard Bazardo took a blown save and a loss in the 10th after allowing two runs — one earned — to the A’s.

Bazardo didn’t even get an out before giving up Donovan Walton’s walkoff homer. He only had the 10th with a one-run lead tonight because Andrés Muñoz was unavailable after working the previous two days. Bazardo, who was outstanding last season and for the first three months of this year, has given up three homers and nine runs over 1 2/3 innings in his last four appearances. His ERA has jumped from 2.10 on July 10 to 2.97 on Aug. 29 and 4.04 now.

Andrés Muñoz (back) is available for Tuesday’s series opener against the Orioles.

There was understandably cause for corner when Muñoz left Sunday’s contest against the Nationals with lower back tightness. The 27-year-old closer, who has struggled this season overall, appears to be feeling better. He’ll presumably be available to handle any save chances during a three-game series against the Orioles at T-Mobile Park.

Andrés Muñoz left Sunday’s relief appearance against the Nationals with tightness in his lower back.

Muñoz was brought in to get some work despite the Mariners trailing by seven runs, and he faced just two batters before exiting with a trainer. The Mariners are calling the 27-year-old day-to-day, but it’s obviously plausible that the team will need to make a roster move if Muñoz is unavailable for the coming few days. Jose Ferrer, Gabe Speier and Eduard Bazardo would likely see the save chances for Seattle.

Mariners’ closer Andrés Muñoz was removed from Sunday’s appearance against the Nationals due to an apparent injury.

The 27-year-old right-hander was brought in to start the eighth inning just to get some work in. He wound up facing just two batters, walking Jorbit Vivas and giving up an RBI double to Jacob Young before being visited by the training staff and ultimately removed. It’s unclear exactly what occurred here, but the Mariners should have an update on Muñoz’s status after the game concludes. With Matt Brash also shelved, either Jose Ferrer or Eduard Bazardo would be the next man up to see save chances if Muñoz is forced to miss any time.

Mariners recalled Eduard Bazardo from Triple-A Tacoma.

The joke would be that Bazardo has made the flight from Tacoma to Seattle quite often, but it’s like 45 minute drive, depending on traffic. Bazardo will be a low-leverage option for the Seattle bullpen in this stint and any others that come across.

Mariners recalled RHP Eduard Bazardo from Triple-A Tacoma.

Bazardo will bolster Seattle’s relief depth heading into Thursday’s game against the Tigers. The 28-year-old righty has posted a lackluster 6.62 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 21/8 K/BB ratio across 17 2/3 innings (13 appearances) this season for the Mariners.

Mariners optioned RHP Eduard Bazardo to Triple-A Tacoma.

With Bryan Woo set to return from the injured list on Friday, someone needed to get the boot from the active roster and unfortunately Bazardo pulled the short straw this time around. He’ll continue to hone his craft at the Triple-A level until he’s needed once more.
