Marshall hinted on social media last night that he had reached a deal with the Angels and it turns out that he has. The 32-year-old missed the entire 2022 season after Tommy John surgery, but he was an effective reliever for the White Sox in 2019 and 2020 and makes for a nice gamble for the Angels.

Marshall is expected to undergo Tommy John elbow reconstructive surgery and miss the entire 2022 campaign. He’s opted to test free agency rather than accept an outright minor-league assignment after being removed from the White Sox’ 40-man roster. The 31-year-old righty has registered a solid 4.19 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 180/79 K/BB ratio across 193 1/3 career innings (206 appearances) at the major-league level since 2014.

Marshall was diagnosed with a pronator strain in his right forearm in late June, which sidelined him for the remainder of the 2021 campaign. The 31-year-old righty will likely miss the entire 2022 season. He holds a respectable 4.19 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 180/79 K/BB ratio across 193 1/3 career innings (206 appearances) at the major-league level since 2014.

Marshall figures to remain there through the weekend before potentially returning to Chicago’s bullpen sometime early next week. He’s been out since late June because of a pronator strain in his right forearm.

That could be one of the final steps before he is cleared for a minor league rehab assignment. Out since June 30 due to a pronator strain in his right forearm, the 31-year-old reliever is pushing toward a return to the White Sox sometime in late August or early September.

This move opens up a 40-man roster spot for Ryan Tepera, who was acquired from the Cubs on Thursday afternoon. Marshall is working back from a flexor pronator strain in his right forearm and there is currently no timetable for his return.

The right-hander experienced forearm discomfort on Tuesday night while pitching in the seventh inning. It is unknown how long Marshall may be out of action.

The discomfort popped up while Marshall was pitching in the top of the seventh inning Tuesday night against the Twins. He’s probably going to be sent for tests and there figures to be an update sometime Wednesday.

It’s unclear exactly what happened, but Marshall’s own defenders signalled for a trainer to come out in the top of the seventh inning and Marshall promptly departed. There should be an update soon from Chicago.
