Marlins acquired RHP Franklin Sánchez and a player to be named later or cash considerations from the Mets for RHPs Elieser Hernandez and RHP Jeff Brigham.
Sánchez, 22, posted a 3.79 ERA and 42/21 K/BB ratio over 35 2/3 innings this season between Class A and High-A. He’s capable of hitting triple-digits and profiles as a possible late-inning arm, but control (or lack of it) is a big issue for him. Still, the Marlins are willing to take a shot for two players who were trimmed off their 40-man roster this week.
